Avon Class

Welcome to Avon Class!

Avon Class is Year 1 and Year 2 children. Mrs Warner and Mrs Perry are the class teachers and we also have Mrs Pangbourne, Mrs Lee, Mrs Hodgson, Miss Green and Mrs Teague supporting us.

We have P.E on a Thursday and Friday but we need to have our PE kit in school at all times as sometimes we need it on other days.

We have Forest School on a Thursday afternoon.

On Monday, our decodable reading books are changed.

On Friday, our spellings are set.  At the beginning of each term, a maths home learning booklet is given out.  It is handed in and celebrated at the end of each term.

For any questions or concerns please email admin@isbournevalleyschool.com

Forest School

Forest School for Avon Class children takes place on Thursday afternoons in the Autumn and Summer term.  During the year each year group will have several sessions of Forest School.  You will receive a letter before your child's sessions start.

Forest School uses the outdoor environment to help all children learn. Your child will be encouraged to develop their independence, decision making skills and practical abilities whilst learning to care for the environment around them. The children will use the orchard area by the car park and also use the wooded area behind the school. They will need to wear suitable clothing as Forest School takes place whatever the weather!! The only exceptions to the rule are storms or thunder and lightning. During Forest School sessions, the children enjoy hot chocolate and a plain biscuit. If you prefer your child to have their own drink and snack please send this in on Forest School days, together with any required medication.

Forest School has been running at Isbourne Valley School for a number of years, and all children who have attended in the past have reported that it has been a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed it.

ESSENTIAL Clothing List (bring into school on Forest School Days)

    • a LONG sleeved under top

    • Long sleeved fleece or sweatshirt

    • Long trousers (joggers are ideal – these should not be tight fitting – NO JEANS)

PE

PE for children in Avon class usually takes place on Friday afternoons.  However, we may have some sessions at other times so the children need to have their PE kits in school every day.  We will send the kits home to wash during the holidays.
