Our Houses and School Council
Our Houses
Every child and member of staff (except the Headteacher) is a member of one of our four houses – Ash, Beech, Oak or Willow. There is a strong competitive spirit between them and a fantastic sense of camaraderie within them!
Each house has a House Captain who helps to organise events and teams, assists teachers at external sporting events and has responsibilities for the organisation of sports day.
Pupils earn house points in all sorts of ways (in house events and normal everyday school life) which are totalled up each term. The house with the highest score at the end of each term enjoys a non-uniform day.
There are lots of house events throughout the year such as quizzes, sporting competitions, music and reading. We also mark special occasions (such as on our Christmas party day or Children in Need and Comic Relief) by enjoying activities in our houses.
School Council
We have an active School Council made up of an elected representative from each year group 1 – 6. Elections take place each Autumn. Children in Coln class are invited to participate later in the academic year.
Our School Council:
- meets with the Headteacher regularly to talk about life in school
- is responsible for organising the sale of charity items to support causes such as Remembrance Day, Comic Relief and Children in Need
- represents the school on occasions such as Remembrance Day
- represents the school and reads at church services such as Christmas and Easter
- raises money by selling items at our school disco and is responsible for liaising with the Headteacher about how the money raised should be spent
